Switzerland

Swiss Switzerland is considered the safest destination for your money... especially if you do not want to disclose its source!

After you have deposited your millions into a Swiss bank account, why not enjoy a few days stay in such a beautiful and organized country?

The question is whether you can have  a budget vacation in one of the most expensive countries, in cities that offer better quality of life but are in the top ten of the more expensive cities?

If you choose to fly after considering the general instructions for travel,  Swiss air, without being much more expensive, offers direct flights e.g. from Athens in 2 hours.

For cheap accommodation  look specifically for Switzerland in www.sbb.ch/travel and www.rooms.ch. It will be difficult to find cheaper than easyhotels.com, covering basic accommodation needs.

If you have time to travel through Switzerland, it is advisable to obtain a Swisspass.  If you don't want to order it through the Internet, you can buy it at many stations. It is expensive, but pays off because you can travel across Switzerland without  paying (except the mountain top routes). Additionally the Swisspass works like a museumpass offering free entrance to over 420 museums. It is valid for trains, buses, trams, ferries (lakes) and some aerial cable cars. The map with continuous lines shows the routes that are free, the dotted lines you pay 50% (except the Top of Europe where you pay 75%). The transport network is extensive, and as regular as clock work. You can literally set your watch to the transport system! Even in the most remote locations, www.sbb.ch will give you the exact bus/train and route you need to take to get to your destination.

An umbrella is a must as  the weather in Switzerland is often rainy.  Sunny days allow for short sleeves but for early mornings and  evenings, even in summer, a light jacket will be useful.

The Swiss food, neighboring the French cuisine has fairly big portions, but is rather expensive. Usually the daily menus at  restaurants offer good value for money. Super markets offer ready prepared meals and a variety of sandwiches at cheaper prices and many have restaurants attached that  also have good offers and food. As for the prices of traditional soft drinks, there is a healthier option...try drinking the Swiss soft drink Rivella, made from whey. You don't need to buy water, as tap water is excellent.
